Welcome to the second installment of our new blog series, Get to Know Reverb!
This week we used Know Your Company by 37signals to ask the Reverb team “What was your first job?” Not surprisingly, we learned that our eclectic team has worked many different jobs, from summer camp counselors and taxi drivers to TCBY yogurt servers. Here are some of our favorite responses.
“First real job: Worked on Jane in high school.” - Thomas Naughton, Senior iOS Engineer.
“My first real-paycheck-getting job was at a dry cleaners… all you need to know about that job is: 1) I had to wear a peach-colored uniform with ‘A Cleaner World’ embroidered on it 2) The job was so boring I read through about five years of back issues of American Drycleaner magazine while I worked there 3) I no longer have anything dry-cleaned, ever, if I can avoid it.” – Erin McKean, Founder.
“I was a paperboy in an area that was really hilly. Had some sweet handlebar bags for my bicycle and everything!” - Ascander Dost, Computational Linguist. (PS. Our Backend Engineer Cody Allen also started his career as a paperboy!)
“When I was 13 I wanted to play the bass guitar but you can’t work in Belgium until you’re 14. So I went and washed peoples windscreens at a gas station until I had enough money to pay for the guitar and amplifier.”- Ivan Porto Carrero, Senior Software Architect.
“I started my working life in the food service industry…Wendy’s.” - Clarke Robinson, Creative Director.
